Comments: This is a photo of the actual SEABEE flag carried "To Iraq..and back ! " by CMC Lee Longacre of Alfa Company in 2004. It was present when seven of our NMCB-14 shipmates were KIA in April and May 2004. Chief Longacre had the rates and names of the fallen SEABEES embroidered on the flag itself in lasting tribute to our lost bretheren. Still showing evidence of the wind-blown desert sands of Iraq which claimed the lives of our fellow SEABEES, it is back in the possession of EOC Dupuis, the original owner. This flag will be displayed at Memorial Day ceremonies at Woodlawn Memorial Park in Ocoee, Florida, which is in Orange County. Chief Longacre is a member of Det. 0314 Orlando, which suffered three of the seven losses in Iraq. After Memorial Day 2005, the flag will be available for transport to any detachment that wishes to obtain it for local observances throughout the coming year. After Memorial Day 2006, the flag will be permanently loaned to the Seabee Museum and Memorial Park at Davisville, Rhode Island.
