My name is Bill Burklow and I am the publicity representative for the A3 Skywarrior Whidbey Memorial Foundation, a non profit organization whose goal is dedicated to bringing back an A-3 Skywarrior aircraft to Whidbey Island for a static display in memory of the men and women who flew this aircraft, who maintained this aircraft and those who perished supporting her mission in time of war and peace. I have attached an announcement concerning this effort to seek the funds and help of others to obtain our goal. This aircraft was the first Navy Jet assigned to NAS Whidbey Island back in the 1950's and has a significant history to the town of Oak Harbor, WA and the Navy. This aircraft was affectionately known as "The Whale" because it was and still is the largest and heaviest aircraft to operate from the decks of US Naval Aircraft Carriers. The proposed site for this static display, is at the corner of Langley Blvd and Ault Field Rd (the old Red Cross building site) just up the hill from the Main Gate to NAS Whidbey Island.
We need your support to help us get the word out to the Military community, there are many retired Aviators around the world and many who flew this aircraft or maintained it and a few are still on Active duty throughout the Navy. The ARMY also flew this airplane and the Air Force Version of this airplane was the B66. These sailors would want to support this effort to get this airplane back to Whidbey Is. I have pictures and other press releases which I can share with you, if you decide to do an article for us..
