Stars and Stripes
reports that beginning in March, Air Force members overseas looking for
an on-base agency to book leisure travel plans will have to use Information,
Tickets and Travel (ITT) offices. SATO Travel, which was available at
some bases for booking leisure travel, now will provide only official travel
arrangements at its base agencies, U.S. Air Forces in Europe Services officials
announced. ITT will be able to book everything from package holidays to
train reservations, rental cars and airlines. About 49 Air Force bases in
the United States have expanded their ITT offices to handle the new load.
USAFE facilities at the RAF bases in Mildenhall, Lakenheath, Alconbury and
Croughton in England will offer the service starting March 1. Aviano Air
Base, Italy, and Spangdahlem Air Base, Germany, offices will begin March
15. For now, private contractors will offer the services at bases in Incirlik
and Izmir, Turkey, until the legal hurdles are cleared so ITT can establish
leisure booking there. ITT agencies at Ramstein, Vogelweh and Sembach, Germany,
already are licensed leisure services providers.
Servicemembers who have Internet access can plan and book their leisure
travel online at Military.com's
Travel Center. Servicemembers can purchase airline tickets, make hotel
and rental car reservations, check Space A travel schedules, check world
weather and more. In addition, Military.com members can take advantage of
big travel savings on hotels, rental cars and travel packages.
