John F. Kennedy!

John F. Kennedy was born into a wealthy Irish Catholic family with a tradition of public service. Graduating from Harvard in 1940, he entered the Navy. In 1943, when his PT boat was rammed and sunk by a Japanese destroyer, Kennedy, despite grave injuries, led the survivors through perilous waters to safety. Back from the war, he became a Democratic Congressman from the Boston area, advancing in 1953 to the Senate. He was elected President in 1960, and guided the country through several crises, including the Berlin blockade and the Cuban Missile Crisis.
John Kennedy was a foreign policy oriented president. As early as college, John was involved in foreign affairs: when his father became the U.S. ambassador to Great Britain, John served as his secretary. He was more inclined to use force, as in the Bay of Pigs invasion against Cuba. When Soviet Premier Nikita Khrushchev ordered a wall built between East and West Berlin, Kennedy called up National Guard and reserve units, and Khrushchev backed down. Even more dramatic was the Cuban Missile Crisis, where a buildup of Soviet short- and intermediate-range nuclear missiles was discovered in Cuba. Kennedy demanded that the missiles be dismantled and ordered a blockade that would stop Soviet ships from reaching Cuba. For 13 days nuclear war seemed near until Kennedy won out. One of nine children, he was personally outgoing.
