Leadership Attributes:

Harry Truman was a pragmatic leader. During the Korean War, when Douglas MacArthur urged using nuclear weapons against China, Truman disallowed it and removed MacArthur from command. As President, Truman was a force in international affairs. He made the decision to drop atomic weapons on Japan to end World War II; spearheaded the Marshall Plan, which poured economic aid into a devastated Europe after the Second World War; established the Berlin Airlift; helped establish NATO (the North Atlantic Treaty Organization); and formulated the "Truman doctrine," which aided countries threatened by Communist takeover. Personally, Truman was reserved and quiet.
