Ronald Reagan!

Born in 1911 in Illinois to a poor family with an alcoholic father, Ronald Reagan became a successful movie actor and politician. After a career as an actor, he entered politics. In 1966, he was elected governor of California, serving two terms. He was elected president in 1980, and initiated one of the largest defense buildups in American history. Many argue that the immense military spending under his administration contributed significantly to the economic collapse of the Soviet Union in 1991.
Ronald Reagan was an idealist, partly due to his Hollywood background. He saw the United States as a "City on a Hill" — a beacon of inspiration for the rest of the world. Reagan implicitly trusted military strength rather than diplomacy. Indeed, one of Reagan's main motivations for entering politics was that he believed the country had grown weak militarily. In response to international incidents, Reagan often turned to military force. For example, he launched attacks against Libya when he accused its leader, Muammar al-Qaddafi with sponsoring acts of terrorism. Personally, Regain was outgoing and popular.
