Biography:

Woodrow Wilson was the twenty-eighth U.S. president. He was a renowned scholar and academic, serving as the President of Princeton University before entering politics. In 1910, Wilson entered politics as a Democrat and was elected governor of New Jersey. He was then nominated for President and was elected by a landslide.

Leadership Attributes:

Woodrow Wilson was an idealist. He founded the League of Nations — the precursor to the United Nations — and was its main advocate. He was awarded the Nobel Peace Prize for these efforts in 1919. He also helped pass the Nineteenth Amendment, which gave women the right to vote. Wilson focused heavily on foreign policy. Even though he often relied on military power, he was more inclined toward diplomacy. He tried to keep the US out of World War I, and also tried to end the war in late 1916, though to no avail. When he did finally intervene, it was partly because he hoped to create a lasting peace.
