In-State Tuition Rates With the recent news that Virginia State sponsored schools will now offer military servicemembers and their families the same tuition rate as their state residents, servicemembers can save thousands in tuition and fees. More Cost of Living Allowance Goes Up Stars and Stripes reports that the Per Diem, Travel and Transportation Committee has announced that the cost-of-living allowance for U.S. servicemembers will go up starting with the pay period of Dec. 16-31. More DoD Expands Mental Health Screening The Department of Defense has issued improved policy guidance for military personnel with deployment-limiting psychiatric conditions, and for those who are prescribed psychiatric medications. More DoD Launches Financial Education Program The Defense Department has partnered with the National Association of Securities Dealers (NASD) Investor Education Foundation to launch the Military Financial Education Program to equip servicemembers with the tools they need. More Free Camping Offered to Servicemembers The Brewster Camp grounds at Camp Lejeune, NC, has opened its gate to servicemembers for free camping from now until the end of January, 2007. Old roads to be used for biking, hiking, walking and horse back riding. More New Navy Uniforms Coming in 2008 Sailors can expect to see two new uniforms appearing in Navy Exchanges by late Summer of 2008. More New Passport Requirements Jan. 2007 Beginning in January 2007, all air travelers, including U.S citizens, will need a valid passport to enter the U.S. You can obtain a passport at more than 9,000 locations in the United States. More New Physical Training for Marine Corps A Concept for Functional Fitness, a document describing a new approach to physical training that will prepare Marines physically and mentally for today's combat operations, has been approved by the deputy commandant. More Roll Call Keeps Airmen Informed A new weekly publication titled "Roll Call" is designed to help shop- and office-level supervisors explain complex, yet important Air Force issues to their Airmen during daily or weekly meetings. More TRICARE Maternity Care If you are pregnant, receiving health care services before, during and after childbirth their associated costs are related to your beneficiary status, how close you live to a military treatment facility, and your choice of TRICARE program and provider. More Unified Medical Command Rejected Air Force opposition has scuttled Army and Navy plans to merge the three services' large medical bureaucracies, led now by three surgeons general, into a single Unified Medical Command.
