More Air Force Could Extend Officer Assignments Some Air Force officers now could spend as many as four years at a duty station before getting a new assignment. Air Force officials are looking for ways to reduce the number of permanent change-of-station moves for officers. GI Bill Increase -- Find a School Today Last month the Department of Veteran Affairs announced that the GI Bill has increased to $38,700 - a total increase of nearly $1,500 over last year. This means you have earned a monthly payment rate of $1,075. More Air Force Officials Announce New Guidelines Air Force leaders have announced changes to assignment availability Code 50 maximum stabilized tours. Members serving in a Code 50 designated stabilized tour will have their tour automatically extended 12 months beyond the current expiration date. More Anthrax Vaccine Program to be Resumed Based on the continued threat to servicemembers deployed to the United States Central Command and Korea, the Department of Defense has issued a policy to resume the mandatory Anthrax Vaccine Immunization Program. More Army Increases Weight Limits for Females Weight limits for female Soldiers have changed to incorporate current research regarding differences between male and female body types. The change allows most females to weigh 5 to 19 pounds more under Army Regulation 600-9. More Exchanges Let Customers 'Take it Home Today' The Army and Air Force Exchange Service is expanding its "Take it Home Today!" initiative, which allows servicemembers immediately to enjoy furniture, major appliances, carpeting, mattresses and box springs, and select electronics. More Fully Paid Household Claims Servicemembers who have household goods damaged or lost during government-directed moves will be reimbursed under a more robust "full replacement value" standard starting by at least March of 2008. More Students Can Apply for Scholarships at Commissaries The Scholarships for Military Children Program applications, sponsored by the Defense Commissary Agency, are now available for 2007. More The Children of Fallen Soldiers Relief Fund The Children of Fallen Soldiers Relief offers children and spouses of the fallen and of severely injured servicemembers assistance with college tuition at an accredited college or university, as well as help with home and car repair, utility bills and many other basic needs. More Transition Workshop Valuable to Veterans All separating servicemembers should know about Transition Assistance Program workshops, say Labor Department officials. The Labor Department teams with DOD and the Department of Veterans Affairs to offer these workshops to transitioning servicemembers. More TRICARE Information Now on One Website The TRICARE Website has a new name, a new look and a new home. More TRICARE Survivor Benefits Family members are entitled to TRICARE benefits as transitional survivors or survivors if their active duty service sponsor who died while serving on active duty for a period of more than 30 days.
