Two Major Historical Events my Father Witnessed: While stationed aboard the USS Missouri BB-63, he witnessed the signing of the treaty in Tokyo Bay. While stationed aboard the Vamen, he saw Howard Hughes fly the Spruce Goose in Long Beach Harbor.
My father's sister, Penny Jay (deceased), entertained troops around the world during the Korean War through USO. She was a country and western singer and songwriter. The number 1 song she wrote was "Don't Let Me Cross Over" which went gold and sold over a million records.
