PFC Lowell Robert Pritchett landed on Omaha Beach, Normandy France at noon on 7 June 1944 (D+1). He fought continuously from Omaha Beach to the Breakout of St. Lo (54 Days). On 30 July 1944 at Villeboudon, France he was wounded in action and taken prisoner by german forces. He was taken to a german field hospital where he died of his wounds three days later at 1600 hours on 2 August 1944. After his body was removed from the hospital one of his dog tags was found on the floor and all that could be read was "Pritchett" and the last 6 numbers of his serial number as the dog tag had a bullet hole in it. He was turned over to the french for burial in Gorron France where his body was exumed 14 days later by U.S forces and identfied through finger prints. He remained buried in France until 1949 when he was brought home to American Falls, Idaho to rest. Lowell was in F-CO, 2nd BN, 175th INF REG, 29th INF DIV, 5th CORPS, UNITED STATES ARMY.
