Gilford, NH ....Wilfred E. Rivard, 87, of 193 Intervale Road, Gilford, NH died at the Lakes Region General Hospital, Laconia on Friday, August 5, 2005.
Mr. Rivard was born December 27, 1917 in Huntington, MA, the son of Louise C. (Ferron) and Nelson J. Rivard, Sr. He was raised in Milford, Ct. where he attended local schools and graduated from Milford High School.
Mr. Rivard served in the U. S. Army with Battery C 601st Anti-Aircraft Artillery Ground Battalion during WWII. He was stationed in England, Belgium, France and Germany. While in Antwerp, he served with the Anti-Aircraft Unit in the ?Battle of the buzz-bomb? (V-1 rockets). Mr. Rivard worked for American Chain & Cable Co., Bridgeport, CT for many years before moving to Gilford, NH seven years ago. Mr. Rivard enjoyed camping, hiking, reading, carpentry and tending to his house and yard.
Survivors include his wife of sixty-three years, Mildred (Shea) Rivard, of Gilford, NH; two sons, Glenn E. Rivard, of Bristol, CT
