Walter N. Dochterman, of Keiokuk, Iowa is truly an American war hero. My father served in Vietnam from 1963-1965. He was apart of the Navy's Special Operations. He served his country he loves proudly and bravely. He risked his life to protect the only thing the country that sent him to war had, "FREEDOM". He recieved many awards and decorations during his tour too included 2 silver stars and 4 bronze stars, and the purple heart. He also recieved the Vietnam equivilent to the Medal of Honor for saving the live of a Vietnam Government official. I am creating this page to pay tribute to one American hero that truly loved and defended his county the best he could.
