He entered service in Toledo, Ohio and was a heavy mortarman/forward observer,having received the combat infantry badge, rifle,carbine, BAR, sharpshooter,& pistol marksman qualification awards. Medals Received: 1. EAME CAMPAIGN MEDAL W/2 BATTLE STARS. 2. PURPLE HEART(3 times) w/2 oakleaf clusters. 3. BRONZE STAR (2 TIMES) w/1 oakleaf+ V insignia. 4. GOOD CONDUCT MEDAL. 5. WW2 VICTORY MEDAL. CONTINENTAL SERVICE: 2 YEARS,1 MONTH,29 DAYS. CAMPAINS/BATTLES:..NORTHERN FRANCE.&GERMANY. SERVICE OVERSEAS:?.8 MONTHS,3 DAYS. WOUNDS RECEIVED: FRANCE,NOV 10TH 44/FRANCE,NOV 28th 44/GERMANY,JAN 23rd 45.. Highest rank held: S/Sargent Active Service:July 22 ,1942 till March 3, 1945
