Albert James Quimby was the 3rd child of 9 born to Mitchell F. Quimby & wife Leta Chalker Quimby .
Born in Phillips or Brantwood, Price county, WI. on 21 Jan 1915. He spent his early years in the north woods of Wisconsin .
His maturing years were spent in Washington state, later retuning to WI. only to leave once again for the West.
He had, in 1939, married Miss Joyce Bratley, and they had a daughter, Deanna Joyce
The family lived in the Los Angeles area until he entered the Army in about July 1944.
He went to Camp Roberts for basic training, and was assigned to a Repo Depot on completion. Departing the U.S. by ship in Dec of 1944 he was headed to the invasion of Linguyen Gulf in the Luzon Islands.
He landed with the 32nd Infantry Division the last part of January 1945. In less than 4 months. on 5 May 1945, he was killed when hit by shell fragments while attempting to get to an injured man who was crying for help. His remains were interred in a military cemetery and return
