I remember the heat...and I remember everyone looking at AK 47 's that we had found that were left behind. There was an antiaircraft gun, and I thought it looked familiar; like the old guns and tanks back at Bragg on Long Street. I knew the mission?but we were providing security to the sappers and I was providing medical support. So we were all just looking around monitoring the radio and waiting for orders. I don?t think anyone knew what to expect at that time. Then it happened so fast, it was a blinding light and blast so loud that it shook me to the core.
