My dad served on the USS Forrest during WWII. He was actually an Electrician's Mate (I didn't have his papers when I entered "Seaman").

Like many, he never talked much about his service. As you can see from the photo, he was a skinny guy. As a matter of fact, I have his uniforms and wore his whites one Halloween (and I'm 5' tall, weighing 100 lbs.)!!
About a year before his death, he asked me to search online to see if I could get a copy of the ship's book. His was lost a long time ago.
I haven't found one yet. He wanted my son to have it - so my mom had his certificate for crossing the Arctic Circle framed and gave that to my son. It means a lot. The certificate is dated October 3, 1943, and signed by Lt. Commander J Letts.
We'd be interested in reunions of those who served on the Forrest during WWII - as well as any information about the ship and its crew.
