History of the 66th Military Police Company, 504th Military Police Battalion. Originally constituted on 12 February 1944, the 66th MP Company was first activated on 25 February 1944 at Oran, Algeria and inactivated on 10 November 1945 at Camp Claiborne, Louisiana at the end of World War II where the 66th participated in combat areas in Rome-Arno, Southern France, Ardennes-Alsace, and Rheinland. On 1 July 1954, the unit was again activated at Ft. Sheridan, Illinois. During 1960's the 66th MP Company relocated to Ft Chaffee, Arkansas
The 66th MP Company was deployed to Vietnam during May 1964 and assigned to Qui Nhon, Vietnam. It was inactivated on 5 May 1965 at Cholon, Vietnam. During 1967, the unit again returned to Qui Nhon, Vietnam with detachments in Phu Tai and Tuy Hoa, where it conducted convoy escorts in V-100 armored cars and provided MP Patrols in II Corps. The 66th MP Co received credit for service for participation in 16 battle campaigns including the TET Counteroffensive. The unit was awarded the Meritorious Service Commendation and the Navy Unit Commendation. The 66th was then inactivated until 21 June 1977, when it was reactivated at Smiley Barracks, Karlsruhe, Germany, assigned to the 95th Military Police Battalion in Mannheim, Germany. In December 1990, the unit deployed to Southwest Asia to participate in Operations "DESERT SHIELD" and "DESERT STORM". The 66th MP Company moved from Germany to Ft. Lewis, Washington in March 1993.
