Co C, 709th MP BN History - Deactivation 1977
(Page 3 of 3 Pages): The adoption of the 15th Military Police Brigade unit patch, "the Griffin." was approved by the Institute of Heraldry in April 1966, and shortly thereafter the patches became available for all members of the 709th Military Police Battalion and replaced the USAREUR patch which was worn prior to 1966. On 12 October of 1972 the battalion Headquarters and Company A moved from Bieberer Strasse Kaserne, Offenbach, to Gutleut Kaserne, Frankfurt. LTC Richard A. Mosco was BN Cdr from June 72 to June 74. LTC William B. (Bill) Holloway was BN Commander during 1975 to 77. LTC Richard H. Martin was BN Commander 1977 to 79. In October 1977, the 709th Military Police Battalion underwent another major reorganization which included expansion of its support mission within the V (US) Corps area of responsibility, the re-designation of its lettered units to numbered ones, and relocation of its subordinate elements. Lettered Companies A, B and C, 709th MP BN were deactivated and replaced with Numbered MP Companies. Companies A, B, C and D remain deactivated. "Securitas Copiarum" (Guardians of the Troops)
