Histories for 6302d RTU (In Div, HHC)

The Early Years
After WW II there were a number of reserve officers employed at Cal Tech in Pasadena who formed a small group for study purposes and met at an office above a savings and loan on Colorado Blvd in Pasadena. This was the nucleus of the 6302nd core group. During the Korean Police Action, the group formalized into an RTU and continued it's meetings. JPL and Cal Tech expanded and more officers started to get their points at the RTU. The unit became a scientific and engineering type of unit by virtue of its membership who worked at those institutions. They shifted meetings to the newly build USAR Center in Pasadena and particpated at the cornerstone laying when it opended in 1953. This began the long tradition of unit distinctions back almost over a half century ago.
