It never leaves Norfolk AR 13
I Joined the Navy in July of 1956 went to
boot at Bainbridge Maryland and on to
school at the Greatlakes to MM School on
to Norfolk where I started my journey on
the USS AMPHION-AR 13. We left port to
never return,we spent 7 months in the
Med on the way home we refuiled the A
Destroyer the USS PURDY DD 734 witch
my brother had served on during the
KOREAN WAR. Went to the yards in New
Port News. I went to AC&Refridgeration
and off to Gitmo for 3 months to make
water for the base while they made a
distilling plant because Castro shut down
the resivor so we would leave, were still
there. We went to Jamaka for R&R for 2
weeks and back to Norfolk for supplies
and back to the Med. We only stayed 6
months this time, we had to land Marines
on Lebbanon for a pease keeping partey.
I also had two more brothers in KOREA
during the war one in the Army and one
more in the Navy. I did 14 countries that
is the end of my story. Theres two of us
left now Im 70 and my brother is 78. All
I can say is GOD BLESS AMERICA AND
GOD BLESS THE USS AMPHION-AR 13
Yours Truly
