Histories for USS America - CV 66

Operation Desert Storm
I was in V-1 as a tractor driver. As we were on our way to the Gulf we lost a F/A-18 I believe the pilot was from vfa 105 and he was Lt. Warner. It was said that he was flyin low and somehow crashed into the med. We also lost a A6 in the Persian Gulf. It landed on the carrier and as it was taxiing out of the wire the aircraft lost hydraulics and was unable to turn. So as the plane continued forward to the waist, the pilot and B/N ejected out safely and landed in the landing area while the plane nosed into the waist safety nets. Due to the fact we had aircraft in the air low on fuel (i believe) they used the tilley and pushed her overboard.
