I was in charge of Avionics Corrosion Control and Electrical Safety. My Son Brandon, was able to join us in Hawaii and cruise back to San Diego. It was by far the greatest father son experience. He saw more of that ol' ship than I ever did. He and I experienced a supersonic flyby of an F-14 so close, we could look down over the edge of the flight deck and see the pilot wave at us all. It was also the first time that women, mothers, daughters, sisters were able to come along. The gun shoots, the unreps, the small boys firing off the 5 inch guns and of course the missile shoots were awesome. Do not let money or time prevent you from experiencing this. It will be the best time of your life.
