Historic Indian Ocean Voyage
The 1980 voyage from Naples, It., to the Indian Ocean ending in a Presidential
Welcoming in Norfolk, Va, featured two modern records. This was the first time that an all Nuclear task force sailed together, Texas, California and Nimitz.
Nimitz set the modern record for continuous time at sea at 144 days, celebrating the 100th day with another modern first, Two cans of Beer for each man on board.
