486th Civil Affairs Battalion The distinctive unit insignia was approved on 11 March 1998. Purple and white represent the Civil Affairs organization. The Indian shield symbolizes defense and refers to Oklahoma, the unit's home state. The parchment scroll alludes to the Civil Affairs mission. The olive branch, adapted from the State flag, is a further reference to Oklahoma and signifies peace. White and green denote integrity and growth, black indicates forcefulness and strength.
