Histoy of The 126th Ord/Maint Bn.(Don Morgan)
Constituted 13 Jan, 1941 in the Regular Army as Maintenance Bn. 4th Armored Div. Activated 5 Jan 1942 at Pine Camp, New York. Reorganized and redesignated 126th Ordnance Bn on 10 Sept 1943. Redesignated 126th Armored Ord/Maint Bn on 18 Apr 1945. Inactivated on 23 Apr 1946 at Camp Kilmer, New Jersey. Redesignated 126th Armored Ord Bn on 23 May 1954 at Ft. Hood, Texas. Redesignated the 126th Ord Bn (4th Armored Div) on 1 Apr 1957 and rotated to West Germany.On 10 May 1971, the 126th Maint Bn and 4th Armored Div were DEACTIVATED and replace with the 123rd Maint Bn, 1st Armored Div (paper change). The battle honors for The 126th during WW11 were: Normandy, Northern France, Rhineland, Ardennes-Alsace, and Central Europe.
