Histories for 426th Signal Battalion




Operation Desert Shield/Desert Storm
426 Signal Battalion(Corps Airborne) deployed to Southwest Asia in August 1990 after Saddam Hussein invaded the tiny country of Kuwait. After setting up battalion headquarters in Dhahran, Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, HHC, A Co B Co and C and D Co's deployed to King Kaliad Military City and to Rafia Saudi Arabia to set up communications support to the commander/18 Airborne Corps. In February 1991, A and D Co's deployed into IRAQ to support combat operations for 18 Airborne Corps supporting Operation Desert Storm. The Battalion redeployed back to Ft. Bragg North Carolina in April 1991, and earned the presidential unit citation. The unit deactivated in 1993 becoming 51st Signal Battalion after the inactivation of that unit in germany.
