battery c 103rd f.a taces its history back to the prov,marine corps artillery charted oct, 1801.btry c was organized on june 1,1917 as part of the 1st separte btn. r.i.f.a.n.g. called into federal service for ww1 on july 25,1917 it was drafted into the u.s. army on aug. 5 ,1917. stationed at camp curtis guild, boxford ma. it became a part of the 26th inf. div. a.e.f. and was demobilized at camp devens ma. april 29,1919. reconstituted on nov. 12,1921 as btry c f.a.r.i.n.g. it was extended federal recognition on nov. 15,1921 the 103rd was first called for troops in defense of the nation on may 1,1875 also in 1898 the spanish american war ,called into federal service for mexican border on june 19,1916, it was mustered out on nov 14, 1916 returning to its fomer national guard status in prov. ri. the 103rd field artillery is entitled to a silver band for its guidon engraved: virginia , 1861 ssgt francis d. sullivan 16 june 2000 btn motto " play the game "
