reality check 1969
i joined b co. 3/187th around may 17th or 18th 69'. i was one of the replacements brought in to the hill.
i didn't go up the hill b co. was assigned battalion cp guard the batt. cp was connected to 937 but a saddle.
some of my friends from the rear went up the hill.
we were ordered to go up but the wind shifted and the cs gass dropped on the hill ended up on us.
i'll never forget the faces of the troops and in some respects i think they kept me from going up because i was a cherry.
anyway apparently you left in july69'.
were you in b co.? if so do you recall a fellow named Phil Trollinger?
we swept the valley floor the summer/fall with a amour unit and ended up at Dong Ap Bia in the fall with amour.
it was cold and rainy. set up ndp w/amour.
we were probed a couple of nights...repealed a sapper attack but not much. went back to evans
and worked the lowlands. i ets'd out in early february 70.
went to washington last veterans day...didn't meet any iron rakksans but i paid my homage to panel west 23 on the wall.
