Was at Cp Pelham when Gen. Emerson took command of 2nd Inf Div. Went to Cp Casey for change of command.Boy what a change.Saw him later at USO show. I remember telling one new turtle to forget what his recruiter told him,this is OLD Army with a New Twist. Keep in mind , this was when the transition from the Draft to the New Action ARMY was taking place. A mix of seasoned Korean and Nam War soldiers and new sometimes misinformed volunteers.It could be really funny sometimes and not so at other times.A life changing experience and an Honor to have served.
