I attended Recruit Training in June 1974, I was fresh out of High school and we were all part of a special recruitment project where all the recruits were from the State of Virginia. We were mostly students of ROTC in High School giving us a roughly polished looked upon arrival. This experience... More
20 Jul Company I083 RTC/NTC Orlando 4/5/93 (Arlan Medicine)
My Command was the USS Rushmore in San Diego after RTC/NTC Orlando in 93. I admit it was alot of fun, if not the highlight of my life.

17 Dec Damage Control Chief Owen Troop 5009 (John Maddox)
Even today, I have high respect for Damage Control Chief Owen. When he barked out orders even the birds flew in formation. But he had a heart of gold. We watched the Lunar Eclipse on his black and white TV set.
26 Aug fire fighting class (Iain Turriff)
We had a recruit who took both hands off the hose nozzle trying to do that wonderful goose neck maneuver. That cost him 500 jumping jacks in the sun in the yellow rain slickers.
16 May Careful how you remove a hand! (John Maddox)
We had marched back from the grinder to the gym. One of the recruits was sick so he placed his hand over his mouth. Our drilling instructor marched up to him and said, "Why do you have your hand over your mouth?" the recruit said, "Nothing." Then he removed the hand. vomit went all over the... More
