By September of 1946, the entire 382nd Military Police Battalion was stationed at Bremen,Germany. On October 20,1947, the unit was reorganized and redesignated as the 382nd Military Police Service Battalion and withdrawn from assignment as a Railway Guard BN. At this time, the 382nd Military Police Battalion was assigned a Law Enforcement Mission and the Battalion was reassigned as follows: Headquarters and Headquarters, 382nd Military Police Battalion with Companies A and B were reassigned to Bremerhaven. Company C, was reassigned to Grohn, Germany. Company D, 382nd Military Police Battalion was reassigned to Bremen, Germany. Headquarters and Headquarters,382nd Military Police Battalion and Companies A and B, supported the Bremerhaven Military Police Station providing MP Duty Officers, Desk Sgts, Patrol Supervisors, Trafficic Accident Preventions Section (TAPS) and MP Patrols in support of the Bremerhaven and USAREUR Provost Marshal Law Enforcement Mission. In 1951, due to reorganization and relocations of military units within USAREUR, Headquarters and Headquarters Detachment, 382nd Military Police Battalion and Company A, were reassigned from Bremerhaven to Sullivan Barracks, Mannheim-Kaefertal (suburb) of Mannheim. At this time, Company C, was reassigned from Grohn,Germany to Fanari Barracks, Kaefertal (suburb) of Mannheim. Also,
during this move from Bremerhaven, Co B was reassigned from Bremerhaven to Smiley Barracks, Karlsruhe and supported the Karlsruhe Military Police Station providing MP Duty Officers, Desk Sgts, Patrol Supervisors,Trafficic Accident Preventions Section (TAPS) and Military Police Patrols in support of the Karlsruhe and USAREUR Provost Marshal Law Enforcement Mission. Company's A and C supported the Mannheim and Heidelburg Military Police Stations and provided MP Duty Officers, Desk Sgts, Patrol Supervisors,
MP Patrols, Trafficic Accident Preventions Section (TAPS) Teams and MP Patrols in the U.S. Army Dependent Housing areas at MarkTwain and Patrick Henry Village in support of the Mannheim, Heidelburg and USAREUR Provost Marshal Law Enforcement Mission. In March 1954, Headquarters and Headquarters Detachment, 382nd Military Police Battalion and Company's A was relocated from Sullivan Barracks to Taylor Bks, Mannheim-Kaefertal (suburb) of Mannheim. Company C was relocated from Funari Barracks to Taylor Barracks. Company A, and C, 382nd Military Police Battalion continued to support the Mannheim and Heidelburg Military Police Stations with MP Personnel. During1955, Company A, opened a sub-MP Station in Patrick Henry Village.The Heidelburg MP Station was located next to the Heidelburg German Police Station and then it was relocated to the U.S.Heidelburg Shopping Center near the PX. In November 1957, Co C, 382nd MP BN was reassigned from Taylor Barracks, Mannheim to Smith Barracks, Baumholder and supported the Baumholder Military Police Station by providing MP Duty Officers, Desk Sgts, Patrol Supervisors,Trafficic Accident Preventions Section (TAPS) and Military Police Patrols in support of the Baumholder and USAREUR Provost Marshal Law Enforcement Mission. In November 1957, Headquarters and Headquarters Detachment, 382nd Military Police Battalion, relocated from Sullivan Bks to Kleber Kasserne, Kaiserslautern, Germany. In late 1958, Co A relocated from Taylor Barracks to Hammond Barracks, Seckenheim, Germany (just off the Autobahn between Mannheim and Heidelberg) and continued to support the Heidelburg, Mannheim and USAREUR Provost Marshal Law Enforcement Mission. In1964, the COSTAR Concept was initiated and reorganization of Military Police Units in USAREUR was under way. With plannig for activation of the15th Military Police Brigade, and reallignments of the 94th and 95th Military Police Battalions missions,the 382nd Military Police Battalion was deactivated 1July 1964.
