Military Police Company, Headquarters Battalion, First Marine Division is a unique unit in that it is almost self contained. It is made up of military police, motor transport, communications, supply, and administration personnel. Many of the members are cross trained in other fields covering all support elements. They recieve training in combat maneuvering and engagement, reconnaisance, patrol techniques, hand to hand combat, mine and booby trap placement and detection, convoy escorts and route reconnaisance, rear area security, check points and dismount points, and provide security for the combat operations center and the SCIF. It is equipped with light to heavy machine guns and grenade launchers, including the M-249 SAW, the M-60 machine gun as well as the M-2 .50 caliber machine gun and Mark 19 Grenade launcher. It is like a re-inforced weapons company and all members are trained and/or assigned on these crew served weapons. It is a highly mobile unit utilizing the hardback HMMWV with 360 degree machine gun mount turrets, lav's with weapons systems, cuc-v, and scout offroad motorcycles. The company mission is to provide support for the 1st Marine Division; Headquarters Battalion; I MEF; 5th Marines; 7th Marines; or any elements of these Regiments. It is the only Marine Division Military Police Company in the Marine Corps. Members of this unit earn and deserve the motto "Combat Cops".
