Welcome to the home of the Animal Squad (online). The Animal Squad was started in May of 1999. What started off as a joke, led into a group of men and women who work their hearts to death for not only their unit, but for each other as well. One very hot day in the desert of Ft. Bliss, TX, myself and SPC Canterbury were railloading vehicles to be shipped home after a 2 weeks of Rio Bravo '99. Our detatchment sergeant SFC Cox came by and noticed how tight we had the hummer tied to the train. It was at a slight cant rearward, with the rear tires half flat. SFC Cox took one look at the vehicle and lowered his head with a deep grin while saying, "thats my animals." Since that time, only the hardest working individuals in the 460th CML BDE are reborn with a new "name." It has worked out that many soldiers since have worked their fingers to the bone for the chance to be in the Animal Squad. Some were automatically inducted due to prior knowledge of their efforts. We have set up a type of chain of command. Though the chain of command has no bearing on actual rank. It helps to identify the founders of this inspirational organization. You can't become a member of the Animal Squad by just being "cool". In order to be inducted, one must pay a "price" in sweat. We have even arranged a ceremony for new members (you must bring your own beer... haha). As i stated before, it started off as a joke, and led into a way to get soldiers off their duff and working on stuff that needs to be done. Some soldiers do not see it for what it is and blow it off. To each his own. But, if you work like an animal, the squad will provide.
