571st MP was in Fort Ord in 1974 I was a member in 2nd platoon we were in the old wooden barracks two blocks from the bank. SSG Frame was my Sqd ldr. The MP Station was down by the old main gate across from doeboy Theater, Its all gone now. The 571st MP Company?s former home until Aug 1993 is still standing, Building 1729 the Company orderly room has been badly damaged and has gang writing on the walls but still sits there unused for 17 years. It still has the big 571st Military Police Company painted on the outside wall. Where it is was going to be new housing for the City of Marina but they ran into corruption and lack of money and the coastal commission has killed all but most of the development of old Fort Ord. The 54th MP Co barracks also is still standing across from the old Salas B Hayes Hospital which is now the DoD Center. The 54th MP Co kennels have fallen down in the Fort Ord East Garrison. East Garrison also was do to have new homes and they also ran out of money. The 54th MP Co Confinement Company?s Stockade is still standing and a cement plant is in there using the site. The Fort Ord MP station is gone the new 2nd street went over it, but the CID building , MPI, SRT PM Operations , all of the HHC LEC and 571st MP co as well as 7th MP Company building still stand. 7th MP Co orderly room is now part of CSUMB but the barracks are not used still.
