I was there 88-89. I was a little hesitant about being stationed on such a small place. But I quickly learned that Diego Garcia was gong to be a great experience. I really enjoyed it there and met some wonderful people. The weather was fantastic all year and the ocean was clear and warm to swim in. The only thing I recommend is that you be single if you go there. I was. I hope to go there again !
