My name is Kenneth Marcum and I served on the "Sam" in 1969-1970. I was a missile tech and slept in the missile compartment. I failed to qual on my 2 tours and upon learning that I would not be going back to Scotland with the Gold crew I went AWOL. That was not one of the proudest moments in my life. But circumstances being what they are and the great arm of God that event led me to my wife of 37+ years and 3 wonderful children and numerous grandchildren. I will never forget the times I had on the "Sam". I recently found 3 old issues of "The Shaft" which was published by members of the Gold crew. Anyone wanting to see them let me know and I will try to scan them and darken them up so that they can be posted or mailed to you. In one of them is an interview with Chief Walsh talking about being on the Ark with Noah and on the H.M.S. Bounty with Captain Bligh.
