In Memory of a fine Captain
I served on board the Cape Cod between 1987-89. I served under Capt Ruff. I remember his saying back in WesPac WogDay Feb 14 1988. just remember.."Just because there is snow on the roof, doesnt mean the fire is out in the basement" By J.C.Ruff He will be missed. aye aye sir..... John Crawford Ruff : A native of Mobile, AL , and a resident of San Diego,California, died Wednesday, September 6, 2000 at the age of 61. He was a veteran of the United States Navy. He was the commanding officer of the USS Wadsworth(FFG-9) and the USS Cape Cod, (AD-43). He is survived by his wife, Sandra Nichols Ruff; sons, John C.Ruff, Jr., of Frisco, TX, and Coire N . Ruff, of New Haven,CT; one brother,James Guy Ruff; one grandchild, Sydney Elizabeth Ruff; other friends and relatives. Funeral services were held Monday, September 11, 2000 at 10:00 a.m. aboard the USS Wadsworth (FFG-9), U.S. Naval Station, 32nd Street,Pier 5. In lieu of flowers, please make donations in his name to: Leukemia and Lymphoma Society, 4715 Viewridge Ave., #110, San Diego, CA 92123.
