Let me reassure you all that the Police will continue to perform the statutory duties with which they are directly charged, including protection of oil pipelines, checkmating cyber crimes, and all other duties that are of relevance to the internal security of our great country. The Government sincerely appreciates the indispensable role of the Nigeria Police in the Joint Task Force deployed to the Niger-Delta. The Force will continue to be part of the peace maintenance process of the region. It is noteworthy that the Federal Government has already opened up dialogue with all the stakeholders to ensure that peace returns as soon as possible. In conclusion, I wish to challenge you all to continue to exhibit those sterling qualities you are known for while on international assignments. Is it not an irony that you excel while on Peace Keeping Missions abroad, but at home, some Nigerians adjudge you as not too good? I know that you are capable of excellent performance. I believe that Nigeria Police is a powerful force waiting to be unleashed for greater achievement, given the right empowerment. Let me reiterate that the direction of the Ministry is to create a conducive atmosphere for the Police to transform into a symbol of Security, Hope, and Trust. We shall remain committed to the Ministry?s vision as spelt in our Service Charter thus: ?To Provide the Nigerian Nation a well trained, disciplined, dedicated, effective, highly motivated and efficient Police Force that is the best in Africa and comparable to any Police Force in the developed world?
