the greatest story never told. Hi my name is Jim DiNapoli My father was in the 100th 397th 1st battalion comp C Like your father and grandfather my father did not tell me many stories of the war. He did tell me some due to my persistence as a kid. He passed in 1973. The were on the front lines longer than and army division some 170 days The time of Dec 31 1944 they were in a battel that was one of the largest in the war. It was called operation nordwind. The 397th was one of the most decorated regiment in the army and were in many major battles and always on the front line. There is some good web pages on the 100th and the 397th. but for the most part there story has never been told.
