SUBJ: ASSIGNMENT YEAR 2007 CHIEF PETTY OFFICER ACADEMY SOLICITATION
A. CG PERSMAN, COMDTINST M1000.6A, ARTS 4.E.2.A AND 4.E.6.
1. THIS MESSAGE SOLICITS MEMBERS INTERESTED IN CHIEF PETTY OFFICER
ACADEMY INSTRUCTOR DUTY FOR ASSIGNMENT YEAR (AY) 2007.
2. THE CPO ACADEMY (DD-TRACEN PETALUMA) IS CHARGED WITH DEVELOPING
THE SENIOR ENLISTED LEADERS OF THE COAST GUARD BY PROVIDING THE
PROFESSIONAL GROWTH AND TRAINING EXPECTED OF CHIEF PETTY OFFICERS.
THESE POSITIONS ARE VERY DEMANDING, YET REWARDING.  TEAMWORK IS A
CRITICAL SUCCESS FACTOR IN ACCOMPLISHING THIS CHALLENGING
ASSIGNMENT. INSTRUCTORS PARTICIPATE IN ALL ASPECTS OF THE CPO
ACADEMY'S ACADEMIC AND PHYSICAL FITNESS CURRICULUM. APPLICANT'S
MUST HAVE A GENUINE INTEREST IN SELF-DEVELOPMENT AND THE
DEVELOPMENT OF OUR FUTURE CHIEF PETTY OFFICER CORPS.
3. ELIGIBILITY: TO BE SUCCESSFUL, APPLICANTS MUST BE PROVEN LEADERS
WITH A DEMONSTRATED RECORD OF EXCEPTIONAL PERFORMANCE AND ADHERENCE
TO THE COAST GUARD'S CORE VALUES; BE IN TOP PHYSICAL CONDITION; AND
HAVE OUTSTANDING COMMUNICATION SKILLS. CHIEF PETTY OFFICERS WHO ARE
TOUR COMPLETE IN AY 2007 (NOT WAIVERABLE) AND MEET THE ELIGIBILITY
REQUIREMENTS IN REF A, ARE HIGHLY ENCOURAGED TO APPLY. IN ADDITION
TO REF A, APPLICANTS MUST BE A GRADUATE OF THE CPO ACADEMY OR OTHER
DOD SENIOR ENLISTED ACADEMY.
4. E-RESUME AND APPLICATIONS ARE DUE NLT 16 JUN 06. E-RESUME
GUIDELINES WILL BE OUTLINED IN THE 2007 SHOPPING LIST, PUBLISHED
O/A 15 MAY 06.  APPLICATION PACKAGES SHALL INCLUDE:
   A.  A COVER MEMORANDUM NOT TO EXCEED TWO PAGES IN LENGTH THAT
EXPRESSES APPLICANTS DESIRE TO BECOME A CPO ACADEMY INSTRUCTOR, AND
THEIR ENVISIONED CONTRIBUTIONS TO THE CPO ACADEMY STAFF IN THE
FOLLOWING FIVE AREAS:  RELATIONSHIPS, EXPECTATIONS, ACADEMICS,
CHARACTER, AND HEALTH.  THE APPLICANT'S CURRENT PHYSICAL FITNESS
ROUTINE SHOULD BE INCLUDED UNDER THE HEALTH PORTION. ATTACHMENTS TO
INCLUDE ARE:
      (1) CAREER RESUME (ON PLAIN WHITE PAPER NOT TO EXCEED ONE
PAGE), WHICH SHALL INCLUDE MEMBERS CURRENT UNIT, ASSIGNMENT HISTORY
(DATES, RANK, UNIT, POSITIONS, AND POSITION/DUTIES), EDUCATION,
TRAINING, PERSONAL AWARDS, AND CONTACT PHONE NUMBERS.
      (2) FROM DIRECT ACCESS, A COPY OF UPDATED EMPLOYEE REVIEW
SUMMARY.
      (3) TWO CLEAR DIGITAL PHOTOS (4X6 OR 5X7), ONE FACING
FORWARD, ONE SIDE VIEW, BOTH TROPICAL BLUE LONG (UNCOVERED).
   B. COMMAND ENDORSEMENTS ARE CRITICAL TO THE SELECTION PROCESS
AND SHOULD HIGHLIGHT THE APPLICANT'S LEADERSHIP SKILLS, PUBLIC-
SPEAKING ABILITIES, AND DAY-TO-DAY TEAM EVOLUTIONS. PLEASE ADDRESS
EACH ELEMENT IN BULLET FORMAT:
      (1) LEADERSHIP. HOW CANDIDATE MENTORS, INTERACTS, AND
INFLUENCES PERSONNEL INSIDE AND OUT OF IMMEDIATE WORK PLACE.
      (2) PUBLIC SPEAKING ABILITY. COMMUNICATION, INTERACTION, AND
CONFIDENCE WITH AN AUDIENCE; USE OF TECHNOLOGY.
      (3) TEAMWORK. HOW CANDIDATE PROMOTES AND PARTICIPATES IN TEAM
AND/OR GROUP ENVIRONMENTS.
      (4)  A ONE-LINE STATEMENT IS REQUIRED, WHICH CERTIFIES THE
MBR MEETS THE MINIMUM CRITERIA OUTLINED IN THIS MESSAGE AND REF A.
