Navy Retirement Letter/Certificate Requests

You can receive a retirement letter from U.S. President, the Master Chief Petty Officer of the Navy (MCPON), and governors.

Governor
Send your request to your Governor. Include your name and a complete mailing address on all written correspondence so the Governor can respond.

MCPON
To request a retirement letter from the Master Chief Petty Officer of the NAVY, complete this online form.

Presidential Retirement Certificates
A Retirement Certificate is available for personnel retiring with 20 or more years of military service and can be ordered through their Command Career Counselor. Presidential Certificates are no longer mailed from NPC with Fleet Reserve/Retirement Packages. The DD 2542 is now available for order through: http://forms.daps.mil/order.

Presidential Retirement Letters
A personal Retirement Letter is available to personnel retiring with 30 or more years of military service. Send a fax request on Command letterhead with the following information: retiree's rate, full name, social security number, service dates, retirement date, ceremony date, retiree's home address, point of contact, point of contact's phone number, and disposition (where the letter is to be mailed).

Presidential Certificate of Appreciation
To receive a certificate of appreciation from a former U.S. President, use the contact information below. Requests should include, at a minimum, full name and rank of retiree, date of retirement, address, name and phone number of contact person. Other information may be required.
