SAN FRANCISCO, CA, Feb. 25, 2009 -- Fleet week is proud to announce that the Navy’s Blue Angels will be returning to the skies of San Francisco. Fleet week makes its 29th annual appearance, October 8-13, 2009 -- attracting an estimated one million spectators along the San Francisco waterfront. Inaugurated in 1981, this popular annual event brings together U.S. Navy, Marines Corps and Coast Guard forces for a week-long celebration in the water and skies -- highlighted by a two-day air show over the weekend. The weekend lineup will also include the U.S. F-16 Viper West, the United States Air Force’s newest fighter aircraft, the F-22A Raptor and the U.S. Coast Guard Helicopter. Team Oracle’s, Sean Tucker, one of the country’s finest civilian aerobatic pilots will be performing and he’ll be joined by the “Collaborators” his son, Eric W. D. Tucker and two other outstanding aerobatic pilots. An air show veteran from here in Northern California is Julie Clark’s American Aerobatics presented by Chevron. Also, returning to Fleet Week for a second year will be Geico’s Tim Weber and Lucas Oil’s Mike Wiskus. A variety of family-oriented special events will be staged along the waterfront. The Marina Green will have an entertainment area featuring exhibits, interactive displays and the best viewing. Aquatic Park Fisherman’s Wharf and PIER 39 will also have events and viewing areas. You can beat the crowds by ordering reserved seating at Marina Green or access to the exclusive, fully catered Flight Deck Club.
