Job-Winning Resume Writing Services: Federal Resumes & Narrative Statements (KSAs, ECQs)

Federal Resumes: A Federal Resume may now be used in lieu of the cumbersome, uninspiring OF-612 or SF-171 application forms. If written well, a Federal Resume provides an opportunity to showcase your qualifications and achievements in the most positive light. However, a Federal Resume must still comply with the US Office of Personnel Management (OPM) OF-510 requirements, which involves adding information not typically present in a standard resume. Whether you are a senior executive or mid-career professional, our Federal Resume writing strategies will equip you with a powerful job search tool.

Narrative Statements: Federal Resumes often require accompanying narrative statements, which may be called Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities (KSAs), Knowledge, Skills, Abilities and Other Characteristics (KSAOs), Executive Core Qualifications (ECQs), Mandatory Professional/Technical Qualifications, Quality Ranking Factors, or Key Elements.

Narrative statements typically address specific questions/elements regarding your knowledge, skills, and abilities relevant to a specific job series or position. Your responses to these questions are graded and are critical to the success of your Federal application.

Senior Executive Service (SES): For entry into the Federal government's Senior Executive Service, Executive Core Qualifications (ECQs) will accompany a Federal Resume. In addition, some agencies and departments may require these for other types of positions. ECQs consist of five core qualifications elements:

(1) Leading Change;
(2) Leading People;
(3) Results Driven;
(4) Business Acumen; and
(5) Building Coalitions/Communications.

Our executive writing strategies will arm you with a compelling Executive Federal Resume and persuasive ECQs that professionally highlight your abilities and accomplishments, from leadership and strategic thinking to managing multiple resources and producing outstanding results.

A Federal Resume can be used to apply for multiple Federal positions, and narrative statements can be reused for other positions with similar requirements. (Typically, this requires slight editing to fit each position and/or agency mission.)

Our proprietary skill analysis questionnaire (SkillNet™) will draw out essential areas of your background. Then we will strategically develop your Federal Resume and narrative statements to target a new set of responsibilities and challenges while showcasing your knowledge, skills, abilities, and achievements.
