Enterprise Rent-A-Car Company Profile

Our Connection To You

Enterprise's connection to the military goes back to Jack Taylor, a decorated U.S. Navy fighter pilot who flew combat missions over the Pacific. After the war, he returned to his hometown of St. Louis and, in 1957, founded the company known today as Enterprise Rent-A-Car. The company's name is a salute to one of the aircraft carriers Taylor served aboard - the U.S.S. Enterprise.

Our Recognition

In August 2005, Mr. David Janes, National Chairman for the National Committee for Employer Support of the Guard and Reserve (ESGR), a Department of Defense agency, congratulated Enterprise Rent-A-Car as a 2005 Secretary of Defense Employer Support Freedom Award recipient. The award publicly recognizes employers, who are nominated by their employees who are voluntarily serving in the National Guard and Reserve, for exceptional support above the requirements of the Uniformed Services Employment and Reemployment Rights Act of 1994.

Enterprise pays the salary differential for employees on active duty in the National Guard or Reserve, so Enterprise employees can continue to receive full pay, as well as benefits throughout the duration of their service. Enterprise currently has about 500 employees currently serving in the National Guard and Reserve.

"While we at Enterprise are honored to receive this recognition, we understand the real heroes are those who answer the call to duty," said Andy Taylor, Chairman and CEO of Enterprise Rent-A-Car.

Enterprise Rent-A-Car, the largest rental car company in North America, was one of only 15 employers selected in July 2005 from nearly 1,500 nominations from National Guardsmen and Reservists for this prestigious award from the ESGR.

Robert Landry, Army Reserve Major, and Sales Manager for Enterprise Fleet Services in Alpharetta, Ga., a division of Enterprise Rent-A-Car, nominated Enterprise as a candidate for this award. "I nominated Enterprise Rent-A-Car because it has always supported me personally and professionally. It taught me the power of teamwork, service, integrity, commitment, and honor while I was in the states - ideas that I took with me overseas. Enterprise didn't just prepare me for the challenges I would face; it stood beside me through them," Landry said.

Enterprise is recognized as one of corporate America's leading management development organizations by allowing you to run your own business, hire and manage your own team, and gain crucial business training in a very short period of time. The Management Training program is often referred to as an "MBA crash course" because from day one, you will actively participate in everything from sales and marketing, to customer service, to accounting and finance.

At Enterprise, your hard work is rewarded and your career is put on the fast track. Enterprise believes almost exclusively in promoting from within. A belief supported by the fact that nearly 100% of our senior management started out as management trainees. Trainees typically receive one or more promotions within their first year, and many double their salaries upon becoming branch managers. Branch manager perks also include salaried pay, commissions, and company car privileges.

From the moment you join Enterprise, you will be able to make important business decisions and you will continue to experience unlimited opportunities for advancement and pay increases based your performance and initiative. It's a formula for success many at Fortune 500's can only wonder about and many MBA's can only envy.
