ASVAB Word Knowledge and Paragraph Comprehension are broken down as follows:

ASVAB Word Knowledge: This is as simple as it gets. You're presented with a word, and then asked to choose among four answers for the word that best fits the meaning of that word.

ASVAB Paragraph Comprehension: You will be asked to read several paragraphs, and answer several questions for each paragraph.

"Reading furnishes the mind only with materials for knowledge; it is thinking that makes what we read ours." — John Locke

It boils down to this: our society is based on communication. Being able to read and understand what you're reading is a fundamental part of communication. This is what will be put to the test when you take the Word Knowledge and Paragraph Comprehension sections of the ASVAB. Remember that both of these sections count in your AFQT score, which will determine whether you qualify for military service. In other words, preparing for these sections is essential.
